Five Question Friday

2 Apr

1. Do you sing out loud in the car when you’re driving?

Actually, I do! I also dance along too. I’m sure I’m a sight to be seen in traffic. I sing anything from rap to musicals, but only when I’m by myself. Favorite song to sing in the car is “The Lonely Goatherd” from The Sound of Music. LOL!

2. What would you never be caught doing?

Watching a NASCAR race.

3. Will you go #2 in a public restroom?

Well, considering it’s highly uncomfortable to hold in the #2, I don’t mind using public facilities to do my business.

4. Have you ever broken a bone?

Yes! When I was 8, I went roller skating in our church’s cafeteria area for some unknown party, and I ended up falling and landing on my hand, which was turned backwards. So, I broke my left wrist, but for a few days, my parents thought I was fine because I could move my fingers ;)

Then there was the time I was dancing in the kitchen when I was a senior in high school, and I accidentally stubbed my toe on a dining room chair. I thought it was just jammed for a while, but in actuality, the middle toe on my left foot was fractured. There’s nothing fun about breaking your toe. They just tape it to the toe next to it. No fancy, glamorous cast. Lame.

5. Do you prefer cooking or baking?

I’d really prefer not to do either, but if I have to pick, I’d have to say it depends on the season. During the holidays, I like to bake cookies and such. I have to be in the mood to cook a nice dinner, or I might be needing to impress someone with my epic cooking skills.

My Little Life

1. Do you sing karaoke? If so, what is your go to song?
Absolutely not. Funny story about this though. My friends and I were hanging out at a Buffalo Wild Wings in Orlando on karaoke night, and when the DJ came around to ask me if I wanted to participate, I told him I couldn’t read. That quickly got me out of getting up on stage. You really can’t argue with someone with an answer like that, right? I thought it was genius.
2. What is your favorite coffee drink?
Iced White Chocolate Mocha at one of my local coffee shops. It’s actually only a block from me. Very convenient in the summer when I want to have a nice iced drink and a sandwich out on the patio.
3. If you could choose your own name, what would it be?
I think my name fits me, but I’d want to be named something like Rebecca or Emma. They’re just cute names :) Or something Irish and different like Brecken
4. Were you ever bullied?
I don’t think I was ever bullied, but I remember being teased for being chubby by other girls. Luckily, it didn’t happen enough that it scarred me. I bullied myself more than anyone ever could.
5. How often do you eat fast food?
Wow, I can’t even tell you the last time I ate fast food. It was probably a Subway sandwich, which I really don’t even consider “fast food”. Oh, now I remember! We were driving the 16 hours down to Florida in December, and we made a few stops at fast food places to use the restroom. The Whopper Junior was delicious, but it also made me feel like crap. I can honestly tell you I don’t even crave fast food anymore. Even when I wasn’t running and actively trying to be healthy, fast food was not really an option for me. I maybe got it once a month.

Monday Mumbles

8 Feb

Good afternoon! I’m very happy to see that yesterday was a record-breaking day for my blog for views. Thank you all so much for reading and following along. Love you!!!

I slept in pretty late today, but I woke up to the sound of a plow… on my street! I got up, weighed myself, got a call from my mom, and straightened my hair. My mom was letting me that we have an appointment for March 5 at 3:30 to look at office space in Orlando! I’m so very excited!!! We also chatted about some work stuff, and she told me we probably won’t be open tomorrow either. And then we’re expected to get more snow on Tuesday night. So we may not have work on Wednesday either. While I love not working, I miss my routine… work, run, eat, date, sleep.. ya know?

So I made my way downstairs by noon, made some Starbucks, and opened my garage door to see that it’s going to be very easy to make my way out later today to stock up on some more groceries. I heard a nearby Wal-mart’s roof collapsed because there was too much snow on their flat roof. Crazy!

Remember my post when I asked you to “Ask Me Anything”? I got a few questions, so here’s the answers…

Q. What got you in to running?

A. Honestly, I’ve always liked to run. I started running in high school on the cross country team when I was a sophomore. I only lasted one year because I thought I wasn’t good enough. I was always in “last place” or close to last. Whenever I try to lose weight, I turn to running because I know it works. And now finally, I’m running not just for weight loss.

Q. What’s the best part of losing weight?

I’ve actually been thinking of an answer to this question for a few days, and I really can’t come up with one answer. Weight loss has given me a self-confidence I’ve never had, which has especially helped me in the dating arena. I used to refuse cuddling because I didn’t want a guy to feel my rolls. I now feel very confident laying next to a man. Another wonderful thing about losing weight is the compliments I’ve received from friends, family, and “strangers”. There’s been a couple of guys at the gym who have approached me and said “slimming down, aren’t ya?” I guess they’ve been watching me for a while. Kinda creepy, but so nice.

The two top things about losing weight:

  1. Being able to run faster. When you’re lighter, there’s less to move, right?
  2. Inspiring others! This is by far the best part of losing weight. I can’t tell you the number of emails I’ve gotten from friends saying that I’ve inspired them to start exercising, running, and/or eat better. And some of them have started blogs themselves. There are some people who are just acquaintances of mine on Facebook, and when I run into them “in real life”, they tell me “oh hey, I’ve been following you. Great job!” I didn’t even know they were reading along. I never in a million years thought I’d be considered an inspiration!

Even though no one asked, I do have a “worst part of losing weight”. I no longer fit into my clothes. My “skinny pants” are too loose, and I’m afraid I look like I’m wearing clown pants. I only have a few outfits I can wear to work without looking frumpy. And now my yoga pants are falling down at the gym. So I bet you’re wondering why this is bad. I’ll be honest. Money’s tight. Real tight. I do have a wonderful, well-paying job, but there have been a few things recently that have hurt my wallet pretty bad. I might be hitting up some thrift stores soon!

Feel free to follow this link to ask me more questions. They’re anonymous, so ask me anything!

Snowstorm Thought Of the Day- Why complain about digging out your car when you have a long driveway? Why not park the car at the end of the drive and just walk out in the snow to it? You’ll have less to shovel.. duh. Thinking outside the box here.

25 days until Disney World!

Friday Five

5 Feb

Just thought I’d start doing something like this…

My Little Life

1. What are you most afraid of?

Most afraid of? Losing my parents, and especially if I lost them at the same time. They’re my best friends, my rocks, my support system. Life without them would require a mental institution.

2. Do you use a flat iron or curling iron?

I use a flat iron almost every day. It’s very rare that I let my hair go curly.

3. Hands free or phone to the ear?

Phone to the ear. People who walk around the store using their phone as a walkie-talkie look ridiculous, and I assume that if I looked down at their waist area, I’d see a fanny pack. And Blue Tooths are hideous and scream “I really think I’m something”, especially when you’re behind a Blue Tooth lover in line at the grocery store, and they pay with food stamps. That’s my rant for the day. Sorry if I offended you.

4. Do you have a matching bedroom set?

Actually, I do! It’s from Pier One, and I bought it when I got my first out-of-college real job.

Yes, I have stuffed animals.. don't laugh

5. Do you believe in the paranormal?

Funny you should ask. I’m watching Ghost Hunters as I type this. I actually do believe in paranormal. Since our bodies are energy, and energy can never be deleted, I believe our energy has got to stay here on Earth somehow.

I often think I smell my late grandmother’s soap around my house, and no product I use/buy smells like that. It helps me to know she’s around.
