Girls Night Out

14 Mar

I decided around 12:30 yesterday I was not going to run the Run to the Plunge 5K. We were having downpours and heavy winds here, and I decided my health was more important for next week’s race in NYC. Around 2, the sun came out but one of my friends told me it had been canceled anyway, so no regrets!

So I headed out for a solo 5K run since the sun had come out. I thought I had spent a lot of time stretching beforehand, but my hamstrings were really tight for the first mile, and then by 1.5 miles, my left knee started giving out. I slowed down my run to a shuffle to see if it would go away, and it didn’t. I started walking for a bit and tried running again several times, and my knee kept giving out every time. So I started walking all the way home (another half mile). By the time I got close to my house, I started another run, and my knee felt fine and didn’t give out. But when I got home, I still elevated and iced it for about a half hour.

I had plans of meeting my friends Missy and Ellen at a local Mexican restaurant at 5:45, but I wanted to make a quick stop at the running store to pick up a 13.1 magnet for my car. It’s well deserved, I think!

I also wanted another pair of socks, so I picked up this pair of pink-lined Balegas.

Dinner was delicious and an excellent time to catch up on life with my girls. We caught the 7:10 showing of Alice in Wonderland afterwards.

I must have been really tired because I ended up closing my eyes several times and took a few naps. The movie was good, but I felt like I was on sensory overload. Johnny Depp was excellent as the Mad Hatter! I missed the Hatter’s squeaky voice though. I really expected a lot more from the movie… not sure what though.. just more?! I much prefer the made-for-TV 1985 version. Do you all remember this one?

Ok, time to clean the house!

Girls Day Out

21 Feb

Today was an awesome day spent with my friend Ellen! She picked me up at my house at 12:30, and I finally gave her her Christmas present. I got her a picture frame, a huge notepad (we both have weird obsession with paper), hand lotion, and a candle. Then we headed to the Dollar Store for drinks and candy to smuggle into the movies. We saw the matinee viewing of Shutter Island. It wasn’t at all what I thought it would be, but it was pretty amazing, nonetheless.

We had plans of getting sushi, but we had time to kill before the happy hour special began, so we hit up Marshalls, where I got my very first running skirt and 2 very cute bowls! It’s a Nike Dri-Fit skirt, originally priced at $50, and I got it for $15.

Sorry, I can’t for the life of me take a non-blurry picture!

Then, it was time for sushi! They had one option of vegetarian sushi, and I knew it just wouldn’t hit the spot. I’m beating myself up over this, but I chose the crunchy yellowtail sushi. It was sooo good, but I feel guilty that I didn’t keep my promise to myself.

Now it’s time for some Olympics. Night night!

101 in 1001

6 Feb

With a weekend stuck at home, I knew I had to delve into a project, and the work I brought home with me was not an option. So, I made a 101 in 1001 list like I’ve seen on so many blogs. One of the things on my list is Project 365, so you’ll be seeing a daily post with pictures from me. Exciting, huh. The Project 365 only allows for one photo a day, but I’ll probably post more.

I slept until about 9:30 this morning and only woke up because of a text from one of my many suitors ;) He’s much younger than me, but I’m enjoying the overflowing compliments I’m receiving from him. It’s nice to be called “gorgeous” in the morning.

I started off my morning with a bowl of Puffins and skim milk and settled myself on the couch to watch Disney Dream Weddings.  I tried to watch Lost, but I became disinterested in that and more interested in blogs and my 101 list. Do you ever get sucked into blog land by reading someone’s blog, clicking on their friends’ blogs, and ending up joining new sites and subscribing to about 171 new blogs. I’m obviously addicted.

For lunch, I had half of a Kashi pizza, and I had the rest of it for dinner. I’m still starving, but I’m afraid to eat more food for fear that I’ll eat it all and not be able to leave my house to get more food in this snowstorm. Speaking of the snow, they’ve already cancelled school on Monday. I snacked on a PB&J Larabar around 5… that flavor is my favorite! I tried the Cherry Pie yesterday at work, and it was just too bitter for my tastes.

Now, I’m watching Julie and Julia. I’ve tried to get through it for the past four nights. It’s not that it’s boring, but I just can’t stand Meryl Streep in this movie. This movie gets a C in my book.

I really only like the parts of the movie with Amy Adams. I looked up the Julie/Julia Project blog, and I was kinda surprised that she no longer blogs.

I didn’t get a whole lot of housecleaning done today, but I did fill up my entire recycling bin, so that  helped clear out my pantry (where I keep my recyclables).

Project 365 Pictures of the Day….

Snow Storm Oh Ten brought us about 2 feet of snow...

A day with no make-up

I spent most of the day on the couch reading blogs

Now I’m going to watch some Big Love and see what else I can eat! I’m hungry!!!
