I finally won something!

13 Mar

I was so very excited to be able to sleep in this morning. It had been a while since I’ve been able to enjoy an unscheduled Saturday morning. Unfortunately, I’ve woken up with a very bad headache, and it’s pouring outside. The plan for today was to run a 5K, which will benefit Special Olympics, but I’m unsure whether or not to do it. If I run in the cold rain, I might end up sick, and I have my second half-marathon next Sunday. I don’t want to be sick for that. I have a few hours to make up my mind.

So, I rolled out of bed this morning, made a toasted bagel with peanut butter, turned on American Idol from Tuesday, and decided to catch up with Google Reader. As you can see, I’m VERY behind on blogs… I have over 1000 blog posts to catch up on!

One of the first blogs I read every day is And Her Little Dog Too (Leslie and I met at the blogger meet-up last week in Orlando), and I see that I won her Amy’s Soups giveaway. I’m so excited!!! This is my first giveaway win!

(Leslie’s picture)

I feel like I really need to do this 5k today. I haven’t run since the half-marathon on Sunday, and I know I need to get out there and run. Plus, I’d like to see if I can PR a 5k now. After running 13.1 miles, 3.1 seems like a piece of cake.

Update to the Cute as a Bunny Challenge

Since I was away on weigh-in day, I’m skipping this week’s weigh-in with the challenge. I did meet my goal of not tracking calories last week though ;)   That was easy! Hehehe.

This week’s (3/14- 3/20)  goals:

  • Keep drinking 66 ounces of water every day
  • Run Monday and Wednesday, cross-train on Thursday

I leave for NYC next Friday for the NYC Half Marathon!

Update #2 to the Bunny Challenge

1 Mar

So last week’s starting weight was…. 177

This week’s weight… 176.2

Total Lost in 2 weeks- 1 pound

So this week’s mini-goals are…

  • Keep drinking at least 3 of my water bottles every day
  • Don’t track anything.

Yeah, I said “don’t track anything.” I’m not going to track calories this week. Last week was the beginning of my intuitive eating plan, and I think it has worked well. And I’m not going to stress over calories this week or try to lose weight this week. I’m 6 days from the longest race of my life. There’s no reason why I should be limiting food right now anyway.

So in other news… I fell down the stairs last night. So many thoughts of “you won’t be able to run!!!!” ran through my head in the split second it took for my butt to hit the stairway landing. But thank goodness, the only things that hurt are my shoulders from trying to catch myself!

I also broke a bowl last night. Remember I got these last weekend?

The pink one is now in a million pieces in my trash. Poo.

So with all of my clumsiness, I’ve decided to do non-impact activities this week during my taper for fear I might injure myself running. So, it’s a ride on the stationary bike tonight for me!

I leave for Florida in FOUR DAYS!!!

I joined Tall Mom Club!

26 Feb

Today was an unexpected snow day, so I spent a majority of it on the couch with my laptop on the hunt for new running blogs to read. I’ve always seen the little “ad” for Tall Mom Club, but I always thought “there’s no way I can run 1000 miles in a year” so I never joined. But I took the plunge today and joined :)

I figure with all of the races I’ll be running and the training for them… and I plan on training for the 2011 WDW Marathon (yes, the full marathon!) , I’ll be able to run 1000 miles in a year. Right? Well, I’m up to 70 miles so far. So 930 left!

I’m totally failing on my goals today for the Cute as Bunny Challenge. I’m supposed to track my calories and drink 66 ounces of water every day. Yeah, neither have even been started today, and it’s 7pm!

And one last thing… the half-marathon nightmares have started. Ya know the ones where you wake up and think you missed it? Or the ones where you are halfway in between two porta-potties and you crap your pants? Yeah, those have started. Joy.

One week from today I’ll be in my hotel room with my lovely mom at Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Resort!

Update to the Bunny Challenge

23 Feb

So last week’s starting weight was…. 177.2

This week’s weight… 177.

Not exactly the one pound loss I was shooting for. But, I was down to 174.6 on Sunday (the day after my 11-miler). I’m a big fluctuator, and I have to admit I pigged out after that long run. That’s why I weigh myself every day, but I don’t really have any feelings towards the scale if I gain a little or lose a little. It is what it is. The most important thing is that I’m running farther than I ever thought I could, and the number on the scale can’t diminish the pride I feel for running 11.6 miles.

I also didn’t completely make my goal of drinking more water. I wanted to drink 3 of my water bottles per day, which is 66 ounces. I think I missed one day, and I only drank 2 bottles that day. Otherwise, I did pretty well.

So this week’s mini-goals are…

  • Keep drinking at least 3 of my water bottles every day
  • Track everything! I’m going to be doing it pen and paper style now instead of doing it on the iPhone via the LoseIt! app.

I started off this morning with a delicious Green Monster!

It was:

1 banana

1 tbsp. flax seed

1 scoop chocolate protein powder

1 cup soy milk

2 handfuls spinach

LOVE these drinks! I seriously wake up wanting one! I think it’s time to add some new ingredients :)

Today’s a rest day, so I plan on cleaning up the house tonight! Oh, and I should maybe look for my Disney tickets and my packing list! I am a former Disney cast member, and I still have 2 free tickets to use, but I can’t find them anywhere! ACK!

What the F*** are you wearing?!?!

17 Feb

I may not have mentioned it the other night, but there tends to be a crazy late night crowd at the gym. The other night, I watched a girl stare at herself in the mirror while she did a sensual version of the “cabbage patch” dance while her friend was walking an 18-minute mile on the dreadmill with no incline, and she was hanging on for dear life. I almost pulled a “Jillian”. Ya know what I’m talking about. That girl needed a talkin-to about hands on the treadmill.

So the “cabbage patch” girl was back tonight. She jumped on the treadmill right next to me. She walked for a few minutes but started running a 10-minute mile. Yes, I’m a treadmill peeker… shhh! So here I am running my big butt off at a 10:20 pace thinking “how is the girl running faster than me?!?!” But thankfully, she lasted all of 30 seconds and jumped right off. I wish I had that kind of “work ethic”… (sarcasm). And then I look down at her feet. She’s wearing jazz shoes! To run in!!!! I’m not even going to talk about her choice of running pants. Just look at her.

Seriously, WTF was she thinking when she dressed herself to go to the gym? And yes, I took a picture of her. Oh, the benefits of an iPhone. She probably just thought I was listening to music. I feel that people like this just need to be sat down and told how ridiculous they are.

Maybe I should have given up making fun of people for Lent? Nahhh.. I gave up dating flaky ass guys instead. Well, I’m not religious, so this is neither here nor there.

*********

OK, on to other things. You know how I said yesterday how I felt bad about not letting my mom come with me to Orlando for my second March trip? Well, I told her today I’d like her to come along. She declined. Booo.

*********

Am I Cute as a Bunny yet? Not yet, but I did meet my mini-goal for today, and I drank 66 ounces of water.

********

I have 16 days until I leave for Disney, and I heard there’s another snowstorm on its way here. So I’m just going to do my best to get in some good runs and not worry about long runs. I did 9 miles a few weekends ago with no problems, so I thinking (hoping rather) that I’ll do fine with 13 miles. Plus, I’m in desperate need of new shoes. Mine look a little run-down, right?

I’m way overdue on getting new shoes. They’re giving me a lot of pain. And before you say anything, I know these are trail running shoes. When I first bought them, I was running on the trail more than pavement. But they’ve worked really well on the road. But it’s time for New Sneaker Day!

Oh! Forgot to mention what my workout was tonight. I did 2 miles on the treadmill in 21:58 (10:59 pace). I really just wanted to run for the fun of it tonight.

When you first started working out, did you wear the wrong clothes to the gym? Wear anything embarrassing like what’s pictured above?

“Cute as a Bunny” Challenge

17 Feb

So I’ve decided to join Me So Hongry’s “Cute as  Bunny” Easter Challenge. Here’s the details:

  • The challenge starts Monday, February 15, 2010 and ends Monday, April 5, 2010 (7 weeks). (ok, so I’m 2 days late. I like to arrive fashionably late to everything, why stop now?)
  • According to Weight Watchers (WW) healthy weight loss constitutes losing 1-2 pounds a week, so all participant should strive to lose 1 pound weekly…7 lbs. in 7weeks (7/7). If you lose your 7 before the end of the challenge…KEEP GOING!
  • Every week, each participant must set a mini-goal. For example, my mini-goal next week…TRACK EVERYDAY! If you meet your mini-goal,  report your accomplishment on your blog.
  • If you choose to participate, please write a brief blurb about the challenge and post on your blog. Link the post back to my blog.

Ok, so mini goal? Hmmmm…. I need to start drinking more water!!! So my goal this week is to drink 3 of these suckers every day.

Ok, back to my hectic work day. Breathe in, breathe out. I feel like screaming!

ETA- I should add that I’m starting off this challenge today at 177.2 pounds.
