Grumpy Pants Cured By a Run

17 Jun

For some reason, I was extremely irritable today. My mood swings these days have been terrible! I snapped at my dad today because he caught me in a bad moment as I was trying to deal with a stupid underwriter. I was tired, cranky, and hungry today, and I was strongly considering passing on my 2-miler tonight. But I got out and did it anyway. I felt really fast and loose, but in the last half mile, my legs felt like Jell-O. There were a few times, though, that I looked down at Gabby and saw I was running a 9:20 pace. Wow! That’s fast for me.

Here’s the splits:

Mile 1- 10:20

Mile 2- 11:04

Total- 21:27, 10:42 pace

It wasn’t so humid today, and there was actually a cool breeze. I feel fantastic after that run. For a few weeks recently, I thought I fell out of love with running. But I think I’ve got my groove back. I think it’s fair to say my grumpy pants were cured by a really good run.

The rest of the schedule for this week calls for a rest day tomorrow, 30 minute walk on Saturday, and a 4.5 mile run on Sunday. But since I have to work on Sunday, I’m going to switch the 4.5 miles to Saturday and not do the 30 minute walk.

Ooooh… I’ve forgotten an announcement! I will be running the Philadelphia Half Marathon on November 21st!

My friend Holly will be running it with me! I’m super excited to have a race on the schedule before the WDW Marathon in January.

Well, that’s all for now. I’m ready for bed!!!

Three sticky miles

16 Jun

I finally made the decision to start seeing my weight loss doctor after a 6-month hiatus. I had gained 8-9 pounds since my two half-marathons in March. Luckily, I only gained 0.4% body fat. I suppose the muscles I gained while training helped me not gain fat weight. His goal for me in four weeks is to lose 9 pounds. ACK! But it will put me at 177, a very comfortable weight for me. In the mid-170s I feel so comfortable in my own skin. I had gotten down to a size 10, and now my size 12s are getting too tight! So now it’s back to business, and I’ll get back to losing weight again! I’m excited!

I’m happy to report I ran a good 3 miles today despite some wicked humidity, which was on my Spring Training schedule for today. I picked things up at Week 6 this week. Here’s today’s stats:

Mile 1- 10:33

Mile 2- 11:37

Mile 3- 12:04

Total: 34:15, pace of 11:24/mile

I did 5/1 intervals again, and in this humidity, it was so comforting to know I had a break coming every 5 minutes. I got some evil side stitches around mile 1.25 and 2.2. I believe it has a lot to do with my breathing. I gotta focus on that!

Today’s run was also pretty fun because I ran with a new running outfit!

The shirt is from Champion, recommended by Skinny Runner. I love it even though it makes me look pregnant, and my back fat is hideous. The flowing bottom makes it feel like you’re only wearing a bra. And the skirt is from ALO.

It was a hot, sticky 3 miles!

The plan for tomorrow is 2 miles. Night night blends (blog friends)!

Rebuilding…

10 Jun

Well, it’s been almost a month since  I blogged… and for good reason. I’ve been internet-less at home, I picked up a second job, and I moved!

As you might know by now, I had plans on moving to Orlando, and unfortunately, they fell through. So I moved a little closer to work and kept my job with my family.

So here’s a bit about what’s been going on with me in the past few weeks…

I haven’t been running much. With a second job and moving, there just hasn’t been enough time. But now that things are settling down, I’m going to kick things back into business. On Saturday, I did the 3rd Annual Race for the Ribbon 5K with a few of my friends.

It was a HOT race and probably my worst.

Mile 1- 10:51

Mile 2- 12:44

Mile 3- 12:42

.11 Nub- 1:16

Total- 37:35 for a 12:04 pace

I was severely disappointed in myself, but even the guys who placed said it was their worse race. I was just looking up race results, and I placed third in my age group!

On Monday, I did a 2-miler to get my momentum back. My new neighborhood butts up to my childhood neighborhood, so it was fun running around where I learned how to ride a bike and where I made so many good friends. The 2-miler took me 23:21, an 11:20 pace. To help myself build back up to my old endurance, I did 5/1 intervals, meaning I did intervals of running 5 minutes and walked 1 minute.

I was hoping to get a good run in last night, but my stomach wasn’t doing well. Remember I went vegetarian because I thought meat made me sick? Well, I think it really is true. I hadn’t gotten sick since January, so I added a few meats back in recently just to see what would happen. Yeah, I was sick again yesterday and all of last night. Ugh!

I’m feeling a little better today, but I took the day off of work to sleep in, rest, and relax. Once I’m back to 100%, it’s back to marathon training, which will include swimming as part of my cross-training.

Tonight’s plans involve seeing some old friends and the new SATC movie!
