Coming up on another milestone

27 Aug

Today’s weight this morning was 180. Soooo close to the 170s, which I haven’t seen since 2006. My goal for the next doctor’s visit is 175 because he wants me to lose 8 pounds this time in 4 weeks. Plus, it’s the weight on my drivers license, and I won’t be lying about my weight on there anymore. So I have over 3 weeks to lose 5 pounds. Totally do-able!

Grand total weight loss is now 21.6! So exciting!!!

20 Pounds, 20 Followers

24 Aug

Wow, I just noticed I have 20 followers! I never thought people would actually read my blog and be interested enough in it to follow along. Thank you, thank you!!!

On Saturday, I hopped on the scale and saw 181.6. That means I’ve lost 20 pounds on.the.dot! Go me!!!!
Sunday was another 5K race, and I lucked out this time because it was right in my neighborhood. Ok, maybe the word “luck” shouldn’t be used to describe anything about this race. It was HOT and outrageously humid. I could only stand to run the first mile straight through, but after that, I did running and walking intervals. My time was something around 38 minutes, my worst time ever. I felt like I was going to throw up the entire time, and by the time I was done and crossing the finish line, I threw up all over the road. Nice, huh? Seems to be a trend for me, eh? None of the people working the race came over to help me, but this one little kid (maybe 10 years old) came over to me with a cup of water. He was so kind. I just can’t believe no one came over to me to see if I was okay. I immediately left and walked home. Thank goodness my house was in walking distance. There was no way I could drive after that.
I spent yesterday afternoon poolside with my friends Ellen and Missy. Missy’s expecting her first child! We had a fabulous time gossiping and talking about our men =)
Oh, 20 pounds sounds glorious! I’m so proud of myself!! =)

Time to Train with Jillian

21 Aug

I just made an eBay purchase I’m very excited about trying! Monica recommended Jillian’s No More Trouble Zones DVD in her blog, so I decided to buy it. With shipping, it was less than $10, so why not? I plan on getting up early to work out with Jillian since I’m falling short with my evening workouts now that I’m spending some evenings with C.

I’m working out this evening with my good friend Ellen, and we’re possibly working out tomorrow morning. It feels soooo good to wake up early on Saturdays to go to the gym with a good friend!
I signed up for another 5K this Sunday. It’s in my neighborhood, so why not crawl out of bed and walk a block to the starting line? I haven’t trained for it at all, but it will feel good to get back into the racing regimine.
And I must confess… I did partake in the Bloomin’ Onion on Wednesday evening. Bad Andrea!
Well, it’s back to work I go….

The Doctor’s Happy

19 Aug

I had another appointment on Monday with my weight loss doctor. I lost 7 pounds in the last 4 weeks (17 pounds total at the doctor’s and 18.8 on my home scale since May), which really impressed my doctor. I also lost 2 percentage points of body fat. I hadn’t really lost any body fat percentages in the past 4 months, so the 7 pounds I lost this time was pure fat, not water weight. Yay! And the big news of this appointment was… I’m no longer OBESE! I’m just “overweight”. Woohoo!

Here’s my measurement losses since May 7:
Chest- loss of 0.5 inches
Waist- loss of 2.25
R Arm- 0.5
L Arm- 0.5
Hips- 2.25
R Thigh- 1.25
L Thigh- 1.5
R Calf- 0.25
L Calf- 0.5
I’ve lost a cup size in my bra and one pant size.
And some pictures of me at 183
I have to admit, I’m digging my smaller butt and the lack of back bra bulge. Oh, and those jeans you see there… they’re size 12 from Express! And I haven’t worn them for a few years. Go me!
I’m having dinner tonight with Christian at Outback Steakhouse, so please send me some resistance vibes so I don’t pig out on a Bloomin’ Onion or whatever it’s called.
More to come later on my relationship change with food, regrets from high school and college, and getting more attention.

Food Reviews

14 Aug

Last weekend, I set out to find some delicious, organic, and generally good-for-you foods. I first stopped at Fisher Bay Market in my neighborhood to see what I could find. This is a picture of the store and some of the other local stores in my neighborhood. I think it’s super cute!

After reading everyone’s posts about almond butter, I went there specifically looking for it. Unfortunately, a small jar of it was over $10, so I passed on that. But I did pick up some PB Loco in the Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Duo and White Chocolate Raspberry. Oh, and I bought some Bare Naked granola too.

The peanut butters should be outlawed. Seriously, they’re soooo good! I usually spread a little bit on Ezekial Bread toast every morning. I’ve had to break out the tablespoon to make sure I’m portioning it out right. It has 190 calories (same as Jif I believe), but it’s gluten-free, all natural, etc. (I forgot to take a picture of the nutrition label).
I also tried Amy’s Pesto Tortelli Bowl (recommended by Danielle), which is outstanding! It’s 430 calories, which I don’t think is too bad for dinner.
I had heard good reviews about this new natural food store a few miles from me, so I decided to check that out as well. Naturally, it’s called Good For You, and honestly, I never want to go back. At first, I thought “wow, this is heaven for someone like me”. But as I roamed the store 3 times,

I saw the same things I could buy at my local Super G, but the prices were outrageous! Plus, no one offered to help me find anything. I ended up only buying one item, the Ezekial Bread, only because I had never seen it in my grocery store and I’ve been wanting to try it ever since Holly from The Biggest Loser wrote about it on her MySpace. But guess what I found when I went to the grocery store next? The bread. It was in the frozen foods with the other natural food items. I had always been looking in the bread aisle. Silly me! But I’m so glad I found it.. it’s wonderful! And one slice is only 80 calories and very filling.
Well, that’s it for now. I’m in the middle of working, and there’s so much left to do before I leave at 5, so I better go. I’m going to the movies tonight with my good friend Ellen to see The Time Traveler’s Wife. Have a great weekend!

Band Wagon, where art thou?

13 Aug

I’ve spent the last two days away from home, and I can tell I’ve gained weight because of it. Christian invited me to stay over, and while I absolutely loved every minute of it, I wasn’t able to have my healthy dinners, make my own coffee, exercise, or take my healthy meals to work for lunch. We went to Friendly’s last night, and I just couldn’t resist the french fries. I ordered a grilled chicken buffalo wrap, which came with fries and a free Happy Ending sundae (is that what it’s called… it feels pervy to me). I only ate a few bites of the sundae though. Then, today at work, I had half of an Arby’s Roast Beef and Cheddar. And let’s not forget the mini Snickers bar. Geez, what is wrong with me!?

Oh, and let’s not even talk about how I haven’t ran since that 5 miler a few Sundays ago.

I have my next doctor’s appointment on Monday, and I was hoping to be 180 by then, which would be a 10 pound loss in 4 weeks. I really wanted to impress my doctor, who thinks I’ve been losing too slow. I can tell I won’t make the goal unless I really bust my butt this weekend.

In other news, I’ve done really well at poker lately. I placed third at a home game and took home $50. And I’ve been winning some real money games on Absolute Poker online.

So… I really need to get my butt in gear this weekend, so please leave your most motivational comments =) Thank you!!!

Too tired to be motivated

8 Aug

Dating someone new is always mentally exhausting for me, but the guy I’m seeing works the graveyard shift, so this has also been physically exhausting. On Wednesday night, we talked on the phone until 4:30 am, and then I spent the night with him the following night and hardly got any sleep. So therefore, I’ve just been way too tired to work out and think about proper nutrition. I only worked out once this week, which was a 10 mile stationary bike ride at the Y. But thankfully, I’ve only gained .6 since Monday.

Christian and I had a lovely date on Thursday evening. Our plan was for me to meet him at his house and hang out with him while he worked on some stuff around his house, and then we’d go to my house for the rest of the evening. However, he had gotten a flat tire, so we traveled the county looking for a new tire for him. We had no luck, but we ended up having a very late dinner at Olive Garden. Now this is where I KNOW I’ve changed my relationship with food. I would have normally ordered a meal and eaten the entire thing plus 3 or so breadsticks. I ordered the chicken parmigiana with the chicken and gnocchi soup. I had half the bowl of soup, which didn’t have much flavor anyway, and only one breast of chicken. The pasta that came with the chicken was regular spaghetti noodles, but I haven’t had white pasta in soo long, that it didn’t even taste good. And I didn’t even keep the leftovers. I told Christian he could have them for his lunch the next day. (More on my relationship changes with food in my next post).

Finances are getting better. My Wii is selling on eBay today, along with a Lost DVD. But with money being low, I haven’t been able to buy the groceries I want to buy. I’ve been having Lance crackers for a few lunches, or whatever else I can find in the break room at work.

Work’s been pretty awesome. I don’t know if I’ve shared what I do. I’m a mortgage loan officer & processor with my family’s mortgage company. This week, I took on the duties of Human Resources and interviewed some really great people, and I offered 3 people a loan officer position. I’ve heard back from 2 of them, and I’m waiting on the other. The two that responded both said they want to join our company. It’s always exciting to hire new people! But not exciting to train them, which I don’t think I’m good at.

Since it’s rather hot out today, I’m spending the day inside playing online poker and catching up with the DVR. I’m supposed to meet my mom at the beach tomorrow morning. Next weekend, I’m cleaning my parents’ house, and they’re paying me $60 for it. Yay!

I am rather disappointed in myself… there was a 5K race this morning, and I totally slept through it. I hadn’t signed up for it, but I needed to run it to be eligible for the Championship Series. I guess I’ve lost my motivation. Must.find.it.again!

Score!!!

3 Aug

Since finances have been rough, I’ve been making head-way with budgetting and cutting back.

On Saturday, I ventured to my local Comcast store to return a defective cable box and tried to convince the rude ass lady to give me the Double Play (tv and internet) instead of the Triple Play (tv, internet, and phone) since I don’t even own a home phone. She got unnecessarily snotty with me, and if it weren’t for the glass barrier between her and myself, I would have knocked her yellow teeth out of her head. But that’s beside the point. She told me the Double Play was for new customers only. I told her it was ridiculous to reward new customers with great deals and not customers they’ve had for over 10 years. I walked out very angry and thought that was the end of it. Well, I call the Customer Service number today, and she was very happy to oblige. She kept all of my same services but dropped my phone service to local calls only, and I saved $70/month. Woohoo!!!
Also, I just went through all of my monthly bills to see if there are any additional charges the creditor has been charging without my knowing. I found AT&T’s been charging me $4.00 a month for PA State Sales Tax. I haven’t lived in PA for a year and a half. I know it’s a very small charge, but hey, $4.00 is $4.00. The AT&T rep I spoke to tried to tell me DE has the same sales tax, but I had to tell her several times DE doesn’t have ANY sales tax. I wish I had caught this earlier. That’s $72 I’ve spent for nothing! I think I might just call back and see if they can credit my account with that $72.
Then, I looked up my credit card reward points, and I was finally eligible to receive something
halfway decent. I ordered the iHome iPod alarm clock. I don’t even own a stereo, so this will be a nice substitute.

Today, at my annual appointment with the “lady doctor”, she gave me a free sample of my BCP, so that’s a savings of $60.

I’m feeling a little better now that I’ve made some progress with bills and saving some money.

In Need of…

3 Aug

A really fabulous blog header! Does anyone have any ideas? I’ll take any and all suggestions! I do, however, want to incorporate the Disney Marathon because that’s my ultimate goal.

Side note- whenever I type “marathon”, I always type it “marathong”… LOL!
